Their are currently two digital file formats that are most commonly used. The first MP4 is what

most people choose use as it fits on a USB key, is easy to copy & plays back almost everywhere.

MP4 Digital file format: is for playing back on smart TV’s, computers, tablets etc. They are small

in file size, easily fitting 10 hours of footage on a 16 gig USB key. It offers very good quality, portability

and simpler backup.

AVI Digital file format: is suited to editing and long term archiving. The format is about nine

times larger than the MP4 format but offers faster, smoother editing and being uncompressed slightly

better quality and is easier to convert to other formats that will come in the future. It will NOT play

back on most smart TV’s or tablets and is usually supplied on a USB pocket hard drive.
